The Best Tacos in London - Tried and Tested
Last updated 10th April 2026
People seem to love mocking the food in the UK… which we kind of understand. But when it comes to a wide variety of high-quality global cuisine, London is second to none!
Tacos don’t have the cult following here that they do in places like New York. But after spending 1 month in NYC and 5 weeks in Mexico last year, we thought we had to compile our list of the best Tacos in London. And, to our surprise, there are quite a few amazing options to choose from.

Homies on Donkeys
LeytonstoneWe’ve been dying to come here for a couple of years, but since we live in the SE, Leytonstone isn’t part of our regular routine. However, after hearing so much about the food scene here, and in particular the tacos at Homies on Donkeys, we made the 90-minute, traffic-filled drive to come… and it was very, very worth it.
They have both a standard and a specials menu, with a range of tacos, and every single one hit the spot. The guacamole and totopos were freshly made, crisp, and instantly transported us back to Mexico City.
A modern take on Mexican tacos served on lovely fresh blue corn tortillas. Even though they look overloaded, they hold together!
Our favourites were:
Camaron Enchilado - King prawns cooked in chilli, garlic and tomato
Corner to Corner Tostada - Aguachile of hake, cured in Pillars Helles Beer, Lime Juice and Homies' Bloody Maria. Served on a toasted black corn tortilla and topped with fresh red onion, yellow bell pepper and baby cilantro

El Pastor
London Bridge | Soho | King’s Cross | Battersea Power StationWith several locations across London, El Pastor is a testament to the owners’ decade in Mexico City running a nightclub. Drawing inspiration from CDMX’s lively streets, Tacos El Pastor has a lively vibe serving up tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, mezcal and tequila.
Santo Remedio
London Bridge | ShoreditchSanto Remedio
Santo Remedio
Santo Remdio has a lighter and more relaxed vibe to it compared to El Pastor and we feel like it’s more reminiscent of a coastal taqueria as opposed to one from Mexico City. It’s colourful and vibrant and the Baja-style fish taco and tuna sashimi tostada were our favourite dishes.
The London Bridge location has a more extensive menu with the option of larger sharing plates. You must book ahead to get a table. The Shoreditch spot has some tables free for walk-ins and has more of a Mexican café vibe to it.

La Chingada
Surrey Quays | EustonLa Chingada
La Chingada
A hidden gem that prides itself on serving authentic Mexican street food. La chingada might be small in size, but it's big in taste and gives off a true authentic taqueria vibe.
The tacos are simple, focusing on high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes and the Chicken Tinga tostada was one of our favourites.
Tacos Padre
Borough MarketTacos Padre serves up a fusion of traditional flavours and contemporary twists at it’s counter in Borough Market. The outdoor seating, buzzing with the market's energy, sets the perfect backdrop for enjoying their signature tacos, such as the Barbacoa and the fish taco, which are nothing short of spectacular.
Tigre Tacos
London Bridge | Clerkenwell | DalstonTigre Tacos at Nine Lives in London Bridge. Aguachile and Beef barbacoa tacos.
We first tried Tigre Tacos whilst going for a post-work drink at Nine Lives in London Bridge and were blown away by how amazing the tacos were. During COVID, they were serving them from a truck outside, but now you can book a table at Nive Lives and enjoy your Tacos with a cocktail.
The other 2 branches are also located in bars (The Hachaand The Gunmakers), and they also operate at Soho Farmhouse.
Our top picks were their Baja fish tacos (really reminded us of our time in Puerto Escondido, Mexico) and the Aguachile.
Taca Tacos
Peckham | Deptford | Brockley market (Saturdays)Birria Tacos at Taca Tacos
A small Taqueria in Packham with a small garden at the back. We came here and tried their Birria combo and honestly, it was so close to what we experienced in Mexico City. The Broth had great flavour, the tacos smelt like corn and the beef was juicy and succulent.
CDMX Tacos
SohoCDMX Tacos London
A small taqueria in Soho with standing space only. They serve authentic corn tortillas with beef, pork and cactus fillings. We’ve included them in this list since they do an excellent job of replicating an authentic Mexican experience, but in all honesty, the food was below par for the price you pay.
It's worth popping in if you’re in the area, but it's not worth a special trip to eat there.
