Florencio - Marylebone, London
Our Rating: ★★★ | ££££ - If Neopolitan and NY slice pizzerias had a baby (How we rate restaurants)
Born out of COVID lockdown, Florencio is a cosy pizzeria that’s making waves for all the right reasons.
Led by Chef Diego Jacquet, who brings experience from his time in NYC and his Argentinian roots, this pizzeria offers a warm welcome and some seriously good thin-based crispy pizza.
We think it’s defintiely worth a visit, the pizzas are like a cross between thin Neapolitan pizzas with a thick crust and crispy New York slices.
*Disclaimer: Florencio invited us to eat for free at the restaurant in exchange for a review but they have no say in what we write*
Overheard at the restaurant: “This is the best pizza I’ve ever had, even in Italy” and “This banana split is insane!”
Starters
Seasonal Tomatoes, Burrata di Bufala - Creamy, rich burrata paired with perfectly ripe tomatoes, olive oil, and basil. Simple, fresh, and delicious.
Green Mixed Salad with Garlic & Parmesan - Light and refreshing with a tangy balsamic dressing.
The Pizzas
MUZZA
A classic base with San Marzano tomato sauce, Fior di Latte, Mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, and olive oil. The sauce was the star. Fresh, slightly sweet, and full of flavour.
ISIDORA
A more decadent option with braised artichokes, pancetta, and a touch of whipped lemon ricotta. The citrus lift from the ricotta was spot on.
The pistachio dip was an unexpected highlight. Rich, sweet and nutty, the perfect match for that crispy, puffed-up crust.
Desserts
Banana Split - Despite the name, there’s no banana in sight—just banana-flavoured vanilla and stracciatella ice cream. Surprisingly bold and very tasty.
Chocolate Mousse - Deep, dark chocolate with a salted caramel swirl and a bit of crunch from the oat crumble. A standout finish.
Overall thoughts
Florencio is relaxed, welcoming, and the food speaks for itself. Our waiter, Francesco, made us feel right at home.
Aim for a spot in the main seating area, right in front of the oven. It's the perfect place to watch the team craft your pizza with care. You can also sit outside if it’s a nice day (Seymore Street is lovely) or in the downstairs dining hall.
We’ll be back for sure!
