Sifnos
Sifnos is the kind of Greek island that gets everything right. We spent a week here in 2025, and it quickly became one of our favourite destinations, striking that rare balance between laid-back charm and genuinely exceptional food. It has all the hallmarks of a rustic Cycladic island, sun-bleached villages, walking trails that link hidden beaches, and long, slow lunches by the sea, but without the intensity and crowds of places like Mykonos or Santorini.
Getting here takes a little more effort, but that’s exactly what preserves its magic. Sifnos feels calm, unspoilt, and refreshingly unhurried. Days naturally fall into a rhythm of swimming, exploring, and eating, with no pressure to rush anywhere.
And then there’s the food. Sifnos has built a reputation as one of Greece’s true culinary islands, and it absolutely lives up to it. From simple, family-run tavernas serving some of the best seafood we’ve had, to beautifully executed modern Greek restaurants, the quality is consistently outstanding.
This guide pulls together everything we discovered during our week on the island, from where to eat and swim to how to plan your time here. It’s a place we’ll return to without hesitation.
