Medusa, Milos Review
Our Rating: ★★★ | ££££ - Seafood with a glorious sea view; what more could you want? (How we rate restaurants)
This was one of those meals where the setting is just as good as the food. Perched right on the edge of the Aegean Sea in the tiny fishing village of Mandrakia, Medusa is all about relaxed, sun-drenched dining. Think typical Greek island vibes — whitewashed walls, blue tables, the sound of waves below you and, if you're lucky like us, a local cat snoozing next to your chair.
Known for: Fresh seafood, sun-dried octopus and no-frills Greek cooking with a view
Expect: No bookings (unless you're a group of 10–15; in which case, you can call to book), so arrive early or be ready to wait. We came for lunch and watched fishing boats bob in the bay while tucking into a spread that perfectly matched the setting.
The octopus hanging out to dry just below the restaurant is a bit of a Medusa trademark and seeing it swaying by the sea before it hits your plate is half the charm. Make sure to pop down and have a look.
The views here are unbeatable, and we spotted shrimp and fries going out to other tables that also looked tempting — an order for next time.
It’s a little out of the way, but that’s part of the charm. There aren’t any amenities nearby, so if you're waiting for a table, your options are to take a dip or soak up the sun; both are solid choices with views like these.
What to Order
Octopus in vinegar: Tender, meaty and full of smoky BBQ flavour. This one’s a must-order.
Fried feta with honey: A standout dish — hot, crispy, sweet and salty in all the right ways.
Swordfish souvlaki: Generously portioned, meaty and well-seasoned. Great with a squeeze of lemon.
Fried peppers: Sweet and lightly charred — a simple but satisfying side.
We went with a glass of local rosé, which wasn’t quite our thing — darker and fruitier than we like, but you might enjoy it if that’s your style.
The Vibe
Medusa isn’t fancy. It’s a relaxed seaside restaurant which is friendly, scenic, and exactly where you want to be eating fresh seafood by the sea.
If you're exploring Milos and want a meal that feels properly Greek — laid-back, full of flavour, and right by the sea — Medusa is the place. Come hungry and come early. Whether it’s the food, the views or the sleepy village charm, this little spot in Mandrakia ticks all the right boxes for a memorable island meal in our opinion.
