FOLEGANDROS
Folegandros won us over almost as soon as the ferry pulled into Karavostasis. Tiny, rugged and completely unhurried, it's a world away from the crowds of Santorini and Mykonos. It's even smaller than Milos and Sifnos, two Cycladic islands we already adore, and that's a big part of its charm. You'll have your bearings within a day, and getting around is easy, whether you hop on the local bus, hire a car or quad, or catch a little boat out to one of the beaches.
We’ll be honest: there isn't a huge amount to do on Folegandros, and that's exactly the point. A trip here is all about slowing right down and soaking up quiet Greek island life. Think long, lazy lunches at tavernas, evenings wandering the whitewashed lanes of Chora as the sun goes down, and relaxing days on beaches that never feel overcrowded. Most of them are unserviced, with no sunbeds or beach bars, so pack water, snacks and some shade and you'll have plenty of space to yourself.
If you're after nightlife, beach clubs or a packed itinerary, this probably isn't the island for you. But if you're looking to properly switch off and unwind, Folegandros is about as good as it gets. We loved every minute of our time here, and below we've put together everything you need to plan your own trip.
