Constance Prince Maurice

The perfect place to do nothing…

We came here on our honeymoon in May 2023 and were completely blown away with the facilities, service and beauty of this resort. We spent ten days here, only left the place once and didn’t spend a single second bored.

Overview

Constance Prince Maurice is a perfect slice of paradise for a honeymoon or relaxing trip. The resort is remote, away from any town and the main road, providing a great environment to switch off from the world and enjoy your surroundings.

The service you receive from the entire team is phenomenal, they do everything in their power to enhance your stay, and they all remember who you are and provide you with a friendly experience.

Even when at total capacity, the resort doesn’t feel busy. We never had to wait for any of the facilities (gym equipment, watersports etc), and there was no battling for a nice spot on the beach as there is so much space and lots of sunbeds to choose from.

The beach feels authentic and relaxing, dispersed around the whole resort with high-quality beds and thatched umbrellas for shade. The layout gives you a more intimate and private feeling than having a resort with lines of sunbeds in a row.

  • Perfect for a honeymoon or a trip where you want to relax and stay in the resort

  • Service is out of this world

  • Food is amazing

  • Good value for money (It’s not cheap, but you do get to experience genuine luxury!)

Constance Prine Maurice is not the best place if you want to explore the island of Mauritius. Getting taxis through the hotel is expensive, so you’ll need to rent a car, and if you do, you will be driving a lot to get to the other parts of the Island.

Details

The Resort

Constance Prince Maurice is hidden in a serene 60-acre corner of Mauritius, framed by lush coconut trees and a breathtaking lagoon. Based on Feng Shui, its open and spacious design creates a harmonious balance with its surroundings. What strikes you most is the attention to detail, the cleanliness, and the dedicated staff, ensuring a seamless experience.

Excellent WiFi coverage everywhere, including the beach, keeps you connected.

The resort never feels busy or crowded, there is plenty of space and we never had to wait for any of the facilities

The Kids Club, with a separate pool and available babysitting services, is a bonus for families.

The Service

Honestly, the highlight of our stay was the impeccable service. Staff members exuded warmth, and the guest relations team was available at any time via WhatsApp. They helped us plan things like:

  • A boat trip

  • Wine tasting in the cellar

  • A private meal on the beach

  • An off-menu local meal from the chef

  • Recommendations about the local town

The cleaning team do a great job and they also visit your room twice a day, once in the morning for the usual cleaning and once again in the evening whilst you’re at dinner to get your room ready for bed!

The Rooms

Even the most basic accommodation option, the Junior Suite, felt like a luxury. Enjoy complete tranquility and appreciate the room's extensive features like the expansive bathroom, a large bath tub, a spacious shower, and abundant closet space. You can look forward to the turndown service every evening, ensuring a restful night's sleep. And yes, there's a large TV too, though you may never feel the need to switch it on!

Rooms service keep you topped up with plenty of bottled water (free of charge).

The Beach

The beach here paints a picture of pure bliss - a serene lagoon, an abundance of coconut trees, and high-quality sunbeds tastefully dispersed along the coastline. Beach butlers are at your service at the push of a button, and the option for a seaside massage takes relaxation to a whole new level.

The beach butlers help prepare your bed, give you an endless supply of towels, clean your glasses, bring you cold water and ice constantly. They also provide you with free coconut water, fruits and icecreams throughout the day.

The water is calm and still and very shallow for a long way so you can walk out into the lagoon to relax.

The Pools

There are 2 pools, the main pool and an adult only pool, both infinity and framed by stunning vistas, make for a refreshing dip. The main pool area features a floating Aperol bar and lounging bags, while the adult pool offers a tranquil escape amidst lush greenery. Neither are every too crowded.

The Food

Archipel (The main restaurant) - Serves a variety of Mauritian foods and seafood. No booking is required

Asian - Serves sushi and other oriental meals (Chinese hot pot, Stir fried beef). Booking required

Barachois - The floating restaurant offers seafood with stunning views over the the fishing reserve and distant mountains, it truly is a unique experience.

Room service - If you’re feeling lazy, room service will deliver food from the main restaurant to your room and transfer your balcony or lounge area into a cosy romantic dining table

Breakfast - Served buffet style with plenty of amazing food options:

  • Egg station, however you want them

  • Crepe, pancake and waffle station

  • Sausages (chicken and pork), bacon, beans, hashbrowns

  • Cereal bar

  • Cheese bar

  • Fruit bar

  • Asian foods area (noodle soup, a rice dish and a stir fry dish daily)

  • Shakshuka area

  • Fresh coffees

The Bars

The resort hosts two bars (one located at the main restaurant and the other at the floating restaurant), each offering unique views and a relaxing atmosphere. A special treat is the wine cellar, home to 25,000 bottles - the largest collection on the island.

Both the bars are pretty quiet, the main bar offers live music in the evenings but the atmosphere is relaxing and private.

The Spa

The spa takes the cake when it comes to indulgence. With an array of treatments, a sauna, a hammam, and a plunge pool, it's a space of pure tranquility. We highly recommend trying the Island Ritual in the couple's room which involves a full body coconut scrub, private couples shower and a full body massage lasting 90 minutes.

When you arrive, they provide you with everything you need like a robe, towel and disposable underwear.

The Gym

Although small, the gym is packed with essentials for a comprehensive workout. It's open 24/7 and even offers bikes for rental if you want to ride around the gardens or take them to the local towns.

Golf Courses and Tennis Courts

The resort has access to two golf courses (with a free shuttle taking you to them) and also provides you with free club hire. On-site, there is a driving cage and a pitch and putt with plenty of balls and clubs to use.

Tennis courts are also available, though do bear in mind the high cost for balls (rackets are free, the balls cost 1000 rupees)

Watersports

An array of watersports is included in your stay (and when possible with free lessons too)

  • Snorkel gear - the water here isn’t the best though

  • Water skiing, wakeboarding and mono skiing

  • Kayaks

  • Peddle boats

  • Paddleboards

  • Hobbie cats

  • Lasers

Excursions

The hotel can arrange various trips and excursions to suit your preferences, including swimming with dolphins and hiking at Le Morne.

They have a nice catamaran which is perfect for a romantic cruise along the coast

They can arrange car rentals via Europcar (although the prices are higher than using a local car rental company)

The Honeymoon Package

The honeymoon package includes delightful surprises like a welcome drink, breakfast in bed, a private meal, and a discount on couples treatments at the spa.

Food and Drink Packages

The resort offers 3 options

  • Bed and breakfast

  • 80 euro a day for half board (dinner)

  • 180 euro a day for all-inclusive (lunch, dinner and drinks)

We booked bed and breakfast and we worked out that we paid much less over our trip than either of the other options. You can usually get a nice dinner for less than 80 euro each and once you factor in the free meals, room service and a couple of nights in the local town the half board option doesn’t seem worth it

The same applies to the all-inclusive unless you think you are going to drink a lot! Drinks aren’t cheap (cocktails from 17 euro) but personally we never spent over 100 euro per night on alcohol.

The restaurants often have themed nights offering a 3-course menu which are charged at 70 euro a night (less than the half board fee) and many of the premium food menu items like steaks and lobsters have a surplus charge even if you are on the all-inclusive package.
